Dr Rosephine Rakotonirainy conducted a research visit at the University of Copenhagen from 3 to 28 June 2024, hosted by Professor Giovanni Pantuso of the Department of Mathematical Sciences. The visit aimed to establish long-term collaboration on risk-averse modelling for logistics capacity planning under uncertainty. Together, they defined the project scope, methodology, and relevant data, with initial numerical experiments underway and a draft article in progress. Completion is expected by the end of 2025, with plans to recruit a postgraduate assistant for computational work.
Beyond collaboration with Prof Pantuso, Dr Rakotonirainy engaged with the department’s Operations Research group, including Prof Trine Boomsma and doctoral student Jiali Deng, exploring joint research, student supervision, and grant opportunities. She also received feedback on a symposium she later organised at the University of Cape Town to promote Operations Research among postgraduates.
From 25 to 28 June, she attended the 2nd Copenhagen School of Stochastic Programming, gaining valuable insights into decision-making under uncertainty and networking with leading scholars in the field.
