President

Prof Tan Eng Chye

Professor Tan Eng Chye is the 5th President of the National University of Singapore (NUS). A mathematician with a PhD from Yale, he has been at NUS since 1985 and led key academic initiatives such as the University Scholars Programme and Technology-enhanced Education.

Professor Tan Eng Chye is the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) 5th President and he will be the 23rd leader to head Singapore’s oldest higher education institution, which traces its roots to a modest medical school founded in 1905.

 

Professor Tan obtained his Bachelor in Mathematics at NUS and his PhD at Yale University. He joined NUS as a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics in 1985. Professor Tan’s research interests are in the Representation Theory of Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, and Invariant Theory and Algebraic Combinatorics.

 

Professor Tan was a pioneer architect of the current academic system in NUS, and has seeded many initiatives such as the Special Programme in Science, University Scholars Programme, University Town Residential College Programme, Grade-free Scheme, Technology-enhanced Education, etc.

Associate Professor Lum Sau Kim

Associate Vice President, Global Relations Office

Associate Professor Lum Sau Kim joined NUS Global as Academic Director in 2021 and became Associate Vice President (Global Relations) in 2023. She teaches real estate finance at NUS Business School and is a Resident Fellow at Ridge View Residential College. Her research covers housing policy, index construction, and green finance. She developed Singapore’s official housing indices and consults for government and financial organisations, serving on the Ministry of Finance’s Valuation Review Board.

Chua Bi Quan

Assistant Senior Manager of the Global Relations Office

Chua Bi Quan serves as Manager of Global Opportunities within the International Relations Office at NUS. She is responsible for facilitating global opportunities and international relations for students, helping them access virtual courses and co-curricular programs offered by partner universities. Through these programs, students can gain new knowledge, build international friendships, and make effective use of their vacation time via online learning platforms.
